Introduction
Information Technology
for the Middle Ages is an interdisciplinary section in which the most
important information technology applications in artistic, archaeological,
philosophical, linguistic, literary and historical studies will be presented.
The space will function as a link between the different fields of research
present in SPOLIA (itself an information technology tool for the Middle
Ages), therefore underlining the project's unity despite the variety of
themes. The main task will be the updating of the material, accompanied
by reference to texts or experiments which have become fundamental in
the brief history of what is becoming more and more a new and autonomous
field of studies, which can be defined as "information technology for
the humanities".
I will also describe
the main online resources on the Middle Ages, creating an index with direct
access - through links - to the other sites dealing with medieval studies.
I warmly ask readers
to collaborate and thank in advance all those who will participate with
contributions and suggestions.
