Roma nella svolta tra Quattro e Cinquecento (Rome at the Turning Point
Between the XV and XVI Centuries)
This is the
title of the international conference organised by the Institute of Art
History and the Department of Italian Studies of "La Sapienza"
University of Rome and by the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele
II. The works were opened on 28 October at 9:30 at the Accademia Nazionale
dei Lincei, continued on 29 October at the same time in the Facoltà di
Lettere of "La Sapienza" University, and ended on 30 and 31
October at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele II. The
analysis of the delicate transition phase from Humanism to Renaissance,
which in literature corresponds to the decisive passage from the manuscript
tradition to the printing press, concentrated on three main themes: the
Pagan revisitation of artists and humanists; the antiquarian culture between
philology and symbolism, and the problem of the Polifilo. E-mail:
