Roma nella svolta tra Quattro e Cinquecento (Rome at the Turning Point Between the XV and XVI Centuries) This is the title of the international conference organised by the Institute of Art History and the Department of Italian Studies of "La Sapienza" University of Rome and by the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele II. The works were opened on 28 October at 9:30 at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, continued on 29 October at the same time in the Facoltà di Lettere of "La Sapienza" University, and ended on 30 and 31 October at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele II. The analysis of the delicate transition phase from Humanism to Renaissance, which in literature corresponds to the decisive passage from the manuscript tradition to the printing press, concentrated on three main themes: the Pagan revisitation of artists and humanists; the antiquarian culture between philology and symbolism, and the problem of the Polifilo.
