Both Lupoi and Padoa-Schioppa consider the Medieval law in a European dimension and use historical-comparative method, but their monographs are very different. The Padoa-Schioppa’s book is a witness of the italian tradiction of study that, since Calasso, investigates the law in the history of a people and his culture. Lupoi examines the juridical phenomenon through the anthropological data. The works contain an up-to-date bibliography.
