AISSCA (Italian Association for the Study of Sanctity, Cults and Hagiography)

The newly established Associazione Italiana per lo Studio della Santità, dei Culti e dell'Agiografia -AISSCA (Italian Association for the Study of Sanctity, Cults and Hagiography) has organised on 24-26 October 1998 its first annual conference at the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre, Dipartimento della Comunicazione Letteraria e dello Spettacolo, Aula della Porta, via della Madonna dei Monti 40. The works concentrated on the following topics: "Cronologia e geografia", "Fonti scritte" (24 October), "Agiografia e arti visive", "Esperienze religiose, santità e potere" (25 October), "Culti, canonizzazioni, devozioni" (26 October). The first issue of the Association's bulletin, published by Viella, can be found at the following address: http://www.unifi.it/storia/aissca.htm and contains the statute of AISSCA, short reports on intents and research projects and the members' bibliographical data. Particularly interesting is the announcement of the compilation of the Bibliografia sulla santità e sul culto dei santi in Italia (1976-1996), edited by Paolo Golinelli. The working group, with headquarters at the Istituto di Storia dell'Università di Verona (tel. 045/8098346, fax 045/8012888), envisages that the work will be published by 1998.
